York College Christmas Lunch
Friday 7th December, 2018 at 12 noon

This popular event took place on Friday 7th December at 12 noon.

The three-course meal cost £23 per person and included a welcome drink on arrival, tea or coffee and mince pies after the meal and tip.

Christmas Coffee Morning
Saturday 24th November, 2018 from 10am to 12pm
St Olave’s Church Hall
The hall is in Marygate Lane, near Marygate Car Park, York YO30 7DS

St Olave’s Church hall was the new venue for the Christmas Coffee morning and 40 members attended. However, the feeling was that this venue was too far from bus routes and the city centre, as well as there being problems with
parking, so we will look for another venue this year. Despite this it was an enjoyable occasion.

"The Streets of York: Four Centuries of Change"
Thursday 22nd November, 2018 at 12:30 pm to 2 pm
Maclagan Hall, St. William's College, College Street, York

In the autumn, York Civic Trust held an exhibition with the above title in aid of York Against Cancer, York Minster Fund and York Civic Trust City Enhancement Fund. The exhibition displayed artwork and photographic images capturing the streetscapes of the historic city through the last four centuries. A book containing most of the images on view was on sale and served as a catalogue.
YANT arranged a private viewing and reception on Thursday, 22nd November from 12.30 pm to 2.00pm in the Maclagan Hall, St. William's College, College Street.

Andrew Thwaite, Chocolatier
Tuesday 2nd October, 2018 from 2.30pm to 4.30pm
St Edwards Church Extension, Dringhouses

Andrew Thwaite, Chocolatier was due to give us a talk on Tuesday 2nd October
However due to a diary mix-up he thought he was visiting us on 3rd October. We have received the following apology to everyone who booked this event and was so disappointed:

“I am truly sorry that I let you down so badly. I can only apologise to everyone and hopefully you will allow me to come again in the spring with no charge.”
                                                                                                                                                                                 Andrew Thwaite

The Summer Garden Party
Monday 25th June, 2018 at 2.30pm
Beningbrough Hall Gardens
£9 per person for the Garden Party. £10 per person for the Coach.

We had sole use of the gardens and arranged for the Head Gardener to be available to answer questions about the planting. The gardens are being redeveloped and in June we were be able to see them at their best. A delicious picnic tea was provided in the gardens as it was a fine day, but seating was also available in the restaurant for when it got too hot. A coach was available to and from York.

"It was beautiful weather for our Annual Garden Party - such a contrast to last year's event. Members were able to sit in the sun and enjoy their sandwiches, cakes, scones, strawberries and meringues - plus the contents of a seemingly bottonless tea pot."

"A lovely relaxing and sociable afternoon. Nice chance to catch up with friends."

The Civic Party also attended our garden party and, along with a number of our Members, were given a talk by the Beningbrough gardener about the changes taking place in the gardens.

Afternoon Tea with Music (and a little dancing) - Thursday 26th April, 2018 at 2.30pm
St. Andrew's Church Hall, Bishopthorpe. £12 per person.

Sadly, the “Afternoon Tea with Music” planned for April had to be cancelled as we had too few bookings to ensure that the event was viable.

The event was due to be repeated by popular demand. “M & S” music were to entertain us whilst we enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea, and for some perhaps a little dancing.
